Recap of Dance & Movement Therapy Sessions for Children Battling Cancer

In February, two meaningful Dance & Movement Therapy sessions were organized for children undergoing cancer treatment through the Can-Clover Program, an initiative by the VinaCapital Foundation (VCF). These sessions brought moments of joy, relaxation, and emotional healing to young patients who are facing long and difficult treatment journeys.

The sessions took place at:

  • February 9 – Children’s Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City

  • February 27 – City Children’s Hospital

Both sessions were made possible with the support of the Children’s Cancer Run (CCR), an initiative organized by Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CanCham).

The Healing Power of Movement

Dance & Movement Therapy is designed to help children express themselves through movement, music, and playful activities. For children battling cancer, these sessions provide a rare opportunity to step away from the stress of hospital treatments and reconnect with a sense of joy and freedom.

During the sessions, children were encouraged to move, stretch, and dance along with therapists and volunteers in a safe and supportive environment. The laughter, smiles, and energy in the room demonstrated how powerful these simple moments of movement can be.

Beyond physical activity, the therapy also supports emotional wellbeing—helping children reduce anxiety, release stress, and build positive energy during their treatment.

The Can-Clover Program

These therapy sessions are part of the Can-Clover Program, implemented by VCF to provide comprehensive support for children with cancer in Vietnam.

The program focuses not only on medical assistance but also on improving the emotional and psychological wellbeing of young patients and their families. Activities such as movement therapy, creative sessions, and community engagement play an important role in helping children cope with the challenges of long-term treatment.

How Children’s Cancer Run Supports the Program

Funds raised through the Children’s Cancer Run (CCR) directly support programs like Can-Clover, helping to bring initiatives such as these therapy sessions to hospitals across Vietnam.

Organized annually by CanCham, CCR is more than just a charity run. It is a community movement that brings together individuals, businesses, and organizations who share a common goal: supporting children battling cancer and improving their quality of life during treatment.

Through the participation and generosity of the community, CCR helps create meaningful programs that bring comfort, hope, and healing to children and their families.

A Shared Commitment to Children

Seeing the children laugh, move, and forget about their illness—even if just for a short moment—reminds us why initiatives like the Children’s Cancer Run matter.

CanCham remains committed to working with partners such as VinaCapital Foundation and the hospitals to continue creating these meaningful experiences for children facing cancer.

Together, with the support of our community, we can continue to bring hope, healing, and brighter moments to the children who need them most.
