On November 28th, Canadian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam, in partnership with Fasken, proudly held a Seminar on “Investing & Doing Business in Canada”, which explained why Canada is considered a destination of choice for global investors and businesses.
The seminar, which took place at BarSon - Le Meridien Hotel Saigon, attracted the attention and registrations of over 80 people. We hope this opportunity to discuss about the Canadian’s Market and network with other business professionals had helped you to build and enhance your relationships along the way.
During the seminar, our two enthusiastic speakers, Ms. Kathleen E. Butterfield and Mr. Huy Do from Fasken Martineau Dumoulin LLP shared some of the reasons to invest and do business in Canada.
Canada has one of the best domestic stability regarding Politics, Rule of Law, and Sound Banking System as well as the potential international market access, especially in the US market. Remarkably, Innovation Incentive Programs such as Scientific Research and Experimental Development Program (SR&ED) and Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) have proved that Canada is constantly modernizing.
The figure for Investments and Top Investor have revealed that FDI is recently increasing in the EV supply chain, Life sciences, Technology, Cleantech, and Agribusiness. These sectors request encouragement for innovation and a highly skilled talent pool, which is owned by Canada.
Another interesting fact to contribute to your decision to establish a new business in Canada is that no investment approval is required in most cases and just a simple notice to the government under the Investment Canada Act would be sufficient. Furthermore, the government offers a number of initiatives to welcome newcomers including the Start-up Visa Program, Entrepreneur Immigration in British Columbia and Ontario, Intra-Company Transferee Work Permits and Canadian Citizenship. These policies have explicit Application Processes and Requirements in common.
